I'm thrilled to have this forum in which to share with the Internet community my first book, Cindy Crawford's Basic Face: A Makeup Workbook. This project was born out of love and respect for my longtime friend Sonia Kashuk, to whom I am eternally grateful for her makeup expertise and extraordinary friendship. Sonia's commitment to bringing me lunch every day during a hospital stay a few years ago finally gave us a chance to spend some quality time to share our thoughts about a joint project. This book is the result of that time, as well as of ten years of learning from the best makeup artists in the world. Although several people contributed their talents to this book, my mom and my sisters were the women I had in mind when I was thinking of whether other women would really want to know about the beauty issues we address.
