Cindy Crawford Launches Official Website at cindy.com
New York, November 17, 1998 -- In a rare and revealing hour-long Internet chat with fans from around the world, Cindy Crawford talked about being sexy, getting married and, now, having her own website (http://www.cindy.com). Cindy answered questions and chatted online at Yahoo! Chat, where fans were also treated to a live video cybercast. Entertainment Drive hosted the world premiere event in it's Manhattan Chat Studio and produced the new website, which features never-before-seen photographs, audio and video of Cindy, travel diaries, fashion news, health and beauty information and more.
For a limited time, a special encore presentation of the event, featuring the Yahoo! Chat (NASDAQ:YHOO) transcript and the live cybercast is available at cindy.com at http://www.cindy.com/about/premiere/index.html. The cybercast was sponsored by Windows Media Player (NASDAQ:MSFT) and the video broadcast was delivered by broadcast.com (NASDAQ:BCST).
When asked during the chat why she decided to finally create her own site, Cindy said, "I've seen a lot of the unofficial sites out there. Some of them are nice and some are, well, let's just say they're a bit different. I guess I just wanted my fans to have a first stop, a place to go for the real information about me."
Cindy revealed that she has been directly involved in virtually every aspect of her website design, from choosing colors to reviewing copy to supplying photographs from her own collection. The site features a continually updated free area for guests, as well as a private area for Members with exclusive photos, video and audio and community areas where they can ask Cindy questions. Members receive an autographed photograph of Cindy, discounts on special merchandise, and an original cindy.com CD ROM featuring screensavers, games, video, software and special features. Because Cindy Crawford is one of the top five most requested celebrity names on Internet search engines, the site has been built to accommodate massive traffic. In order to accommodate Cindy's international appeal, portions of the site will be available in Japanese.
