Let's talk for a moment about the long-dead art of film promotion . . . the current state of film poster (or "one sheet," as they're called in LALALand) art, to be specific. Every day I walk through the crowded subways of NYC and am assaulted by new film advertisements. Without fail, I find myself muttering, "that poster, to put it quite bluntly, SUCKS!"
What, or whom, is to blame for the shocking lack of creativity in today's movie ads? If I knew, I'd drag the responsible party into a field somewhere and put a bullet in him/her/it. There's simply no excuse for the rampant laziness in marketing (especially since films have larger marketing budgets than ever before).
