Bill Maher and writer/director J. F. Lawton made two very funny movies together during the late eighties: Pizza Man and Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. After these two, Lawton went all Hollywood on us and wrote such movies as Pretty Woman and Under Siege, and Maher, of course, went all--I don't know--Burbank on us and produced Politically Incorrect. But the two film gems were completely ahead of their time in that they offered the type of politically charged, media-aware satire that is all the rage today, years before anyone had heard the terms "politically incorrect" or womyn.
Cannibal Women also holds the distinction of being one of the few Shannon Tweed movies in which she sheds nary an article of clothing. That's right, despite the sensationalist title and cover art, the Queen of the Erotic Thriller--as well as all of the other female leads--stays fully clothed throughout the whole movie. In fact, you see more of Bill Maher than you do of Shannon. Wierd.
