I had been hearing about this completed but long-shelved slasher flick from Romper Stomper director Geoffrey Wright for some time, so when I had the opportunity to see the only screening of this film in Cannes, I took it. Being a fan of Romper Stomper and slasher flicks in general, I had moderately high expectations for this weird little thriller. And despite the few advance screening reviews out there on the internet that have been universally negative, I was not disappointed.
Cherry Falls, Virginia is the titular town where a bewigged serial killer is dispatching the town's virgins at an alarming pace. One of the targeted virgins happens to be the daughter of town sheriff Michael Biehn (whatever happened to this guy? He's a good actor, dammit!). and sheriff Biehn may know a lot more about this killer than he lets on ...
